LAROQUE DES ALBERES
The villa is located on the edge of the historic village of Laroque des Alberes, with its winding streets and excellent selection of restaurants and small bars. In the village, which is just a 10 minute walk away, you will find amongst others a bakery, butcher, newsagent, chemist, small supermarket, hairdresser and post office.
The historic centre of the village is mediaeval and contains an old castle tower dating from the end of the 11th century and a church.
BEACHES
Only a short drive from the villa you can find a great selection of fabulous beaches, the nearest being Argeles with its miles of wide sandy beaches, promenade and spectacular backdrop of the Alberes and the Pyrenees. St Cyprien and Canet are also close by.
Further afield there are beaches at Banyuls-sur-Mer, Port Vendres, Barcares, Sainte Marie la Mer and Torreilles. Many of these have been awarded the prestigious Pavillon Bleu award for clean beaches and bathing water in France.
COLLIOURE
The Catalonian port and fishing village of Collioure is known as the pearl of the Vermilion Coast, and a trip to this town is a must when visiting the region. Collioure has a maritime and architectural wealth that’s beyond compare.
With its medieval heritage, winding streets and colourful sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline, the town has long been an attraction for painters including Matisse, Derain and Picasso.
